Ciara then transferred to a high acuity Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in order to challenge her knowledge and critical thinking skills. While working in the CVICU she cared for critically ill patients who were placed on continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), had left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) and who had heart transplants. She also became certified as an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) nurse. She instantaneously became proficient in this life sustaining intervention allowing her to precept new ECMO nurses. After gaining a wealth of knowledge and leadership skills from the CVICU Ciara began traveling as an ICU nurse. However, with an extensive history of caring for patients through life saving interventions, she began to further educate herself on noninvasive holistic prevention, care and treatment.
